Each track was conceived in and named after a location on the island, with Yann manipulating original field recordings to create a natural drone of noises, before taking to Studio 1 at Abbey Road to add piano. Released this Friday (30th September) the collection of 10 solo piano pieces form a musical map of Tiersen’s home island Ushant (‘Eusa’ in the local Breton language) which is positioned in the Celtic sea between Brittany and Cornwall. Yann’s latest album Eusa was recorded at Abbey Road and is his first ever LP of solo piano music. Yann Tiersen is about to release an album celebrating his home, where the mood seems sparser and more desolate than the Amélie soundtrack for which he’s famed. We’re whisking you away to the Breton island of Ushant with our Just Added track today.
